200 Followers – An Introduction and My Blogging Tips

Hello!!!!! 🙂

As many of you may know, I reached 200 followers on my little blog last week! I know it may not seem much compared to the several-thousand that some other bloggers have, but for me this is a HUGE achievement! I am so excited for this week’s posts, as I have lots of fun (I hope) things lined up, including a giveaway!!

Dumbledore is me

In today’s post, I will be sharing some tips that I would give to new bloggers, or any bloggers wanting to improve in any way (or just anyone interested in blogging tbh. I don’t want to exclude anyone!). This idea was suggested by the very lovely and helpful Bridget, whose blog is amazing so you should go take a look! Sydney (who has an awesome blog that you should visit as well) also said this would be a good idea, so thank you, you two, and anyone else who may have suggested it!! 🙂

Anyway, without any further ado, here are some of my top blogging tips!!

1. Comment, comment, comment!

Whenever people ask me for blogging tips, this is always the first thing that comes to mind!  If you are wanting to build your own little blogging community and get involved with other bloggers, commenting helps soooo much! Simply by saying something along the lines of “Hi! I really enjoyed this post and am excited to see more!” can really make someone’s day, and perhaps they may even do the same for you!

Another tip that comes into this one is that comments with actual meaningful messages and good structure are SO MUCH BETTER than saying “Great post. Check out my blog: [link]”. Comments like this are, frankly, a waste of both your time and that of the blogger whose post you are commenting on. I know from experience that I am much more likely to visit the blog of someone who has left me a lovely comment with no link than someone who has put a comment like the one above. Simples!

ALSO: Don’t be afraid to reply to other people’s comments! I’ve ‘met’ some lovely people through doing this on a friend’s blog! 🙂

2. Check your spelling and grammar!

Now, I don’t know about you, but bad grammar is one of my biggest pet peeves.  So much so that I will sometimes visibly cringe when reading something where the grammar isn’t just so. Now, I can understand getting a few things wrong if the language you’re writing in isn’t your first language, but for those that this doesn’t apply to, you should probably work on it. Even if that just means going back and double/triple-checking that you’ve not got random apostrophes where they aren’t needed, or you’ve not used the wrong your/you’re or their/there/they’re. Please? You wouldn’t want to upset Hermione, now would you?

3. Interact with your followers!

Simply, if someone leaves a comment on one of your posts, it tends to mean they liked it!  Therefore, you should always try to reply, even if it’s just a little hello and thank you!

Side note: Conversations in the comments can be amazing! On this blog, fangirling will often occur 😛

4. Social Media is your friend.

I use social media LOADS, and I can honestly say that it has helped me become more involved in the blogging community. From the Blog Squad to the Feministas (and #TEATOWNBAES <3), I would never have known about all the amazing bloggers I do without social media, specifically Twitter!  Don’t be put off by all the stories in the news of bad things happening after people got talking to the wrong people (although still take note and be careful), as the blogging community will make you feel so at home as they are (mostly) all lovely!

If you can, I would definitely suggest taking a look at some of the accounts you can make! 🙂

5. Have fun!

My fifth and final tip is to have fun! You may not think so, but you can generally tell if a post is rushed and written in a bad mood, so don’t feel pressured to write when you don’t feel like it. If schedules work for you, great! If not, not to worry! I personally like the freedom of no schedule, as I feel I can post whatever, whenever, although you should never feel like you have to stick to a schedule all the time if you have one!

Blogging is, for most people, a hobby, and hobbies are meant to be enjoyed. There tend to be no deadlines (unless it’s a competition) and you get to call the shots. It is always okay to ask for a little help if you need it (this is where social media comes in handy), as there will always be someone on hand, but above all, your needs come first, and if you’re not happy with your blog, you have the power to change it.

I hope you enjoyed this post!  I would love to know some of your tips, so leave them down in the comments if you like! I hope you have/ had a great day!

Also, this is my 200th post!  Yay!

I guess as long as you try your best to stick with grammar rules, everything should be fine!
